Better mobile security

Sygate and iPass are joining forces to help protect corporate data accessed by mobile devices.

In essence, Sygate’s Secure Enterprise (SSE) VPN (virtual private network) solution is to be integrated with the iPass remote connectivity service platform. With this integration, iPass hopes to extend its ability to ensure users are in continuous compliance with corporate security policies and protect the integrity of remote and mobile devices at the time they are most vulnerable – during the establishment of an internet connection.

Through iPass Policy Orchestration, Sygate Secure Enterprise will determine whether the mobile device is compliant for the network before iPassConnect allows entry to the VPN.

In addition, to make sure the mobile device is not carrying viruses which can be spread on the corporate network, the combined products will enable mobile devices to self-update security patches during the connection process.

“Securing mobile and remote employees has become one of the biggest challenges facing IT managers today,” said Clive Longbottom, analyst at Quocirca.

“The only way to achieve secure access to corporate data is to close every gap in the connection process through the use of tightly integrated security and access technologies.”
