The release includes stronger encryption, support for higher monitor resolutions and the ability to download automatically and initialise the ICA clients required to connect to most Internet-based ASP services.
ASPs have also been catered for with the addition of ICA Packet Tagging, which will allow both service providers and network managers to prioritise different applications and services running under Metaframe.
Matt Dircks, director of product management at Citrix, said, "Our aim is to be able to deliver content, irrespective of device and operating system. The new release, as part of our NFuse strategy, will leverage improved service provision for both ASP and the corporate network" he said
Dan Kusnetzky, vice-president, systems software research at IDC, said, "The improved support for Unix via Solaris, HP-UX and AIX takes the Citrix story and extends it.
"Citrix has always been server-centric and heavily within the Windows family. With Nfuse this takes it another step closer to a unified solution."
