A 12-year-old student passed his A level computing exam after just nine months, sparking celebrations at Ryde College, Watford, Hertfordshire, this week.

Sameer Sanghvi from Finchley, who achieved a grade C, was the youngest of 43 A level students at the college to pass the exam. Last year he also passed his IT GCSE.

Among the other pupils who passed were Mitesh Vora, 13, and Hadley Parrie,14, who was the youngest student to get a grade A.

"I'm very pleased," said Sameer. "It was quite hard but I enjoy computers."

How is this possible? First of all, any student below 14 years is not eligible for 12th board exam. and A'Level is is done after 12th. How is he elegible to sit in the exam of 'A' Level. Are you talking about a different A' Level exam.

There are exceptions to every rule (except this one, of course) and there are geniuses among us. Even at that, I'd need to know much more before promoting a ticker-tape parade for this preteen. The real question is not about verifying if this person is smart enough, but what our industry has done to train and promote smart people. If we didn't have a hand in this, somehow, some way, shame on us. We need to work harder to nurture the best of the best. Phooey on that, too. We need to nurture the next generation even if they're not off-the-wall smart.
