The London Stock Exchange has fixed the technical glitch it has been experiencing with market data and says UK equity trading has restarted.

The trading platform suffered problems from the beginning of today and halted trading at 8.30am.

The company's latest update says: "The Exchange will now place the order driven markets into a RESUMPTION AUCTION CALL period with an uncrossing scheduled to take place at 12:15hrs, continuous trading will start immediately thereafter."

The company also said: "The Exchange regrets the inconvenience that has been caused to market participants by this morning's incident."

However, it does not intend to extend scheduled trading hours today.

This glitch will come as further embarrassment to the stock exchange which has just completed its migration to its new trading platform.
