Chocolate company Thorntons has contracted HP Enterprise Services to run its IT portfolio.

Some of the services HP will provide for the confectionary business include, desktops and laptops, Wintel and Unix hosting, retail helpdesks and back office business processing.

Steve Harris, head of IT at Thorntons UK, said the company was delighted with its decision. "They have a proven track record, and I'm looking forward to working together with them as they continue to support [our] business," he said.

Steve Howe, VP at HP, said the deal represented a substantial win for HP.

HP Enterprise Services recently had a $2bn deal with General Motors (GM) for IT services renewed.
