CIOs drive app development to understand customers

Cliff Saran

Developing business applications is a top priority for CIOs for 2010.

Forty six per cent of CIOs surveyed said they were actively developing their CRM applications. In the survey of 200 CIOs by Vodafone, data collection was the second highest priority for CIOs, with 45%, while database management applications were close behind with 44%.

The survey found that 33% of CIOs were evolving their e-commerce applications.

Vodafone also interviewed 1,200 staff across 500 companies. Twelve percent of employees said they were frustrated that they were unable to use their own mobile devices for work purposes. Lack of IT training (24%) and speed of access to data (31%) are considered to be more important to employees.
