Storage area network providerQLogichas introduced a range of quad data rate (QDR) InfiniBand
products for high-performance computing, supporting up to 40Gb/sec
throughput.
QLogic QDR host channel adapters (HCAs), directors and edge
switches are being used in the HP Unified Cluster Portfolio, which
is designed for HPC applications such as weather modelling,
high-energy physics, reservoir simulation, scalable visualisation,
computer-aided engineering, impact analysis and computational
chemistry.
In addition, QLogic has worked with IBM to use its QDR adapters
as part of IBM's latest System Cluster 1350 computer.
Separately, QLogic has introduced what it claims is the first
combination 8Gb fibre channel/1Gb Ethernet ExpressModule for Sun
Microsystems' Sun Blade 6000 systems. Available from Sun as the Sun
StorageTek Dual 8Gb fibre channel dual GbE ExpressModule host bus
adapter, the product consolidates Ethernet and fibre channel
connectivity onto a single card.
This consolidation increases I/O density, maximises server space
and provides customers with greater flexibility, QLogic said.
