Web and messaging security specialist M86 Security has
acquired Finjan to bolster its enterprise credentials and SaaS
operations.
Under the terms of the deal, M86 will merge with Finjan's
operations, product and technology and its labs and malicious code
research centre.
M86 is no stranger to consolidation, having been formed out of
the merger of Marshal and 8e6 Technologies a year ago. It acquired
behavioural malware detection company Avinti in March.
John Vigouroux, chief executive of M86, who was CEO at Finjan
until April this year, said: "We are confident about our aggressive
plan to integrate Finjan's secure web gateway into the M86 product
line."
He said that the enterprise product line, experience and
products helping with gateway security and Finjan's knowledge of
delivering services via the cloud were factors behind the deal.
Gadi Maier, president and CEO of Finjan Software, said the
merger was a good fit and it would benefit from the worldwide
distribution that was set up by M86.
