Teradata has introduced what it claims is the
world's fastest datawarehouse. The Blurr appliance uses solid state
discs, instead of hard discs to support real-time data analytics.
The company claims the appliance is 150 times faster than an
enterprise hard disc drive system.
Costing about four times as much as Teradata's existing high-end
disc-based datawarehouse appliance, the system is designed for
applications that require real-time analytics, such as managing a
global supply chain, algorithmic trading in financial services, or
to track customer behaviour on a website.
