Microsoft has unveiled its version of the Apple AppStore
dubbed Windows Marketplace for Mobile.
Microsoft said it was working with 731 developers worldwide to
include 200+ mobile applications initially in the Windows
Marketplace for Mobile.
The store will include a line of business applications as well
as Facebook, MySpace,
Netflix (online film
rental), Twikini
(Twitter on mobile phones), internet radio service
WunderRadio and
Zagat, the location-based
restaurant guide.
At launch, Microsoft will make available a number of mobile
games including Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, Sudoku and the
Pac-Man series.
Microsoft's
My Phone site allows users to connect their Windows Mobile
phone directly to Windows Live, providing access to Facebook,
MySpace and Flickr.
A premium service available in the US, allows users to lock the
phone remotely if it is lost and post an "if found" message on the
screen, via the My Phone website.
