Canonical is planning to
announce a version of Ubuntu
Linux for mobile devices in the first week of June.
Canonical, which was founded by IT entrepreneur
Mark
Shuttleworth, is planning to unveil Netbook Remix, and is
working with Intel on the project.
Shuttleworth
told the Guardian, "We are announcing it in the first week of
June. It is called the Netbook Remix. We are working with Intel,
which produces chips custom-made for this sector."
Loss-making Ubuntu is hoping a mobile version of its Linux OS
will revive its fortunes.
Up to now, mobile devices running Linux have mainly found a
market in countries such as China and the Far East.
