Microsoft has launched a competition to get mobile
applications ontoWindows Marketplace for Mobile, the software firm's
rival to Apple's AppStore, RIM's App World and Nokia's Ovi
Store.
The company, which has been promoting the Windows Mobile
software developer community since its first foray into mobile
devices with Windows CE in the mid-1990s, announced Windows
Marketplace for Mobile in February. Among the applications
available for Windows Mobile devices are products for CRM, data
synchronisation and a tool for managing servers remotely.
Microsoft is looking to add applications to the Windows Mobile
Marketplace through a competition called
Race
to Market Challenge. Anyone who submits an application to the
Windows Marketplace for Mobile has a chance to win a £10,000
Microsoft Surface 30-inch tabletop multi-touch display.
