The RSAConference
2009 in San Francisco has kicked off with the announcement of
an initiative to give developers free access to application
security tools.
The RSA Share Project is aimed at both corporate and independent
software developers to encourage the development of inherently
secure applications.
RSA, the security division of EMC, is offering as part of the
project a no-cost download of the
RSA BSAFE Share
encryption toolkit.
The toolkit will enable developers to add and integrate
encryption into their applications.
Developers signing up to the RSA Share Project will also have
access to an online community of security experts to provide
support, answers and strategies.
In the light of increasingly sophisticated cyber-criminal
attacks, developers must collaborate to stay at least one step
ahead, said Chris Young, senior product vice-president at RSA.
The RSAConference runs for the rest of this week, with the first
keynote address tomorrow by Art Coviello, EMC executive
vice-president and RSA president.
