A massive 40% of teenagers have hacked into peoples
social networking profiles on websites such as Facebook with
hacking techniques even shared on micro-blogging sites such
asTwitter.But parents are just as
bad.
Research from security supplier Trend Micro revealed 30% of 12
to 18 year olds have been tempted to make money by hacking.
Cyber criminals are approaching youngsters to tempt them into
hacking. Social networking sites like Facebook
contain enough personal details about users to help hackers
work out the security questions used by banks to protect customers
from fraud.
But teens are not alone with one in three admitting that they'd
hacked into another person's online profile.
"These results come as a stark warning to parents become a lot
more familiar with what their kids get up to when online, especially
as we're about to go into the Easter break," said Rik Ferguson,
security expert at Trend Micro. "Parents need to ensure they lead
by example at all times, clearly but appropriately lay down some
simple family guidelines and make sure they oversee the online
activity without being obviously intrusive."
