Software revenue for Q3 2009 was $4,433bn, with $1,120bn of new licences sold and $1.399bn of software updates and maintenance.

However, the company has been hit hard by the currency markets, as its software is priced based on the US dollar

The company reported an earnings per share rise of 3% to 26%. Non-GAAP EPS rose 16% to 35%. Oracle CEO, Larry Ellison, said, "This is a tremendous achievement in the face of the serious slowdown in the world economy.

Its financial results show that Oracle is still selling enterprise software, despite the economic downturn, which means IT departments are still buying Oracle software for enterprise IT projects.
