Domino's Pizzareported a growth in year-on-year profitsas online sales jumped 73.7%.
The company said
e-commerce continues to drive the business as sales climbed to
£55.9m, compared with £32.2m in 2007, representing 23.3% of
delivered sales.
Total sales grew 18.4% and pre-tax profits were up 24.7% as
people stay at home during the recession instead of eating out.
Domino's CEO Chris Moore said, "[There has been] an increase in
households opting for in-home entertainment accompanied by
delivered food at the expense of eating or drinking out - a dynamic
that has been reinforced by the current economic downturn.
"Our e-commerce platform, which this year celebrates its 10th
anniversary, continues to exceed expectations. Mainly as a result
of increased spend in highly targeted online marketing in 2008,
sales grew by an extraordinary 74%, while average ticket value was
20% higher than phone orders."
