IT governance, control and security association
Isaca turns 40 this year.
The independent, non-profit professional association provides
tools and guidance to help businesses comply with regulations,
manage risks and get the most out of IT investments.
Founded in 1969 as the EDP Auditors Association, the name was
changed to Information Systems Audit and Control Association in1994
and shortened to Isaca in 2006.
Through its affiliate, the
IT Governance Institute (ITGI), Isaca created and updates the
guidance in
Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology
(Cobit),
Val IT and the IT risk framework in development.
Isaca has grown from 10,000 members in the early 1990s to more
than 86,000 in more than 160 countries.
Isaca international president Lynn Lawton said the
organisation's accomplishments are the direct result of the
professionals who have donated time and expertise.
More than 60,000 professionals have earned the Certified
Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation in its 30 years of
existence.
The Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) designation is
only six years old, yet has already certified more than 10,000
professionals.
Isaca's newest credential, Certified in the Governance of
Enterprise IT (CGEIT), was introduced in 2007.
