Worldwide information services and credit checking company
Experian has appointed its first ever global chief information
officer (CIO).
The internal appointment sees Mel Mason, former managing
director of technology services for Experian UK and Ireland,
promoted to the global role.
Mason will report to Mike DeVico, Group President of Experian
Americas.
Mason is responsible for developing and implementing a common
technology strategy across the company. He is also tasked with
enhancing service delivery quality, integrating datacentres and
networks, and improving overall operating efficiencies across
Experian businesses.
Mason joined Experian 5-years-ago, leaving the Home Retail Group
division of GUS where he spent 12 years as IT director, and also
had responsibility for customer service and credit. Prior to this,
he spent 17 years at Tesco, where he became deputy to the IT
director.
Mason said, "Experian is known for the power of its information
and analytics solutions. It is absolutely vital that these are
underpinned with the best technology infrastructure supported by
the best technologists."
