Personal details of over 34,000Pfizerworkers are at risk of identity
theft after a security breach publicly exposed their
data.
According to company officals, the breach occurred last year
when a Pfizer employee took copies of confidential information from
a Pfizer computer system without authorisation. According to
reports, Pfizer did not become aware of the breach until 10
July this year.
This is the third time that Pfizer has made public
a security breach that exposed current and former employees'
personal information.
The company has now taken the step of informing affected workers
and is offering them credit monitoring,
identity theft insurance and other protections.
No identity theft or other misuse of the information has been
reported to Pfizer in connection with the incident.
