Oracle is expanding its Accelerate programme to deliver industry-specific, fixed-price enterprise software for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Oracle said Accelerate delivers a comprehensive set of applications, rapid implementation tools, and an extensive partner system, so that small- and medium-sized businesses can maximize their budgets and achieve business value quickly.

The implementation tools, which Oracle calls Accelerators, are frameworks that incorporate industry-specific best practices and business process “flows” to make deployment faster and easier, while reducing cost and risk.

Accelerators are designed to work with Oracle’s E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft Enterprise, JD-Edwards EnterpriseOne and Siebel.

To flesh out the strategy, analyst firm Ovum said Oracle would be recruiting software implementation companies that offered expertise in specific industries and markets.

Warren Wilson, research director at Ovum, said Oracle would be working with these companies to define standard software bundles, prices and implementation times that reflect the resource constraints and lower risk tolerance of small and medium-sized enterprises.
