The Independent Police
Complaints Commission is investigating the alleged misuse of
the North Wales Police computer system, and the subsequent release
of information by a police officer.
The officer has been arrested and is currently released on
police bail and suspended from duty while the investigation is
carried out.
IPCC commissioner Tom Davies said, "Very serious allegations
have been made against a serving police officer. I have decided the
investigation needs independent oversight, and this will be managed
on my behalf by an IPCC investigator."
Because of potential legal proceedings, the IPCC said it was not
appropriate to give out any further information on the alleged
computer misuse.
