Cisco Systems is acquiring XML
(eXtensible Markup Language) gateway provider
Reactivity
for around £71m to boost its
Web 2.0 offering to firms.
Reactivity's XML gateways enable customers to efficiently
deploy, secure, and accelerate XML and web services.
The acquisition, said Cisco, confirms the supplier’s commitment
to the expanding application networking services market, which is
an important part of Cisco's service-oriented network architecture
strategy.
Jayshree Ullal, Cisco senior vice-president for datacentre
switching and security, said, “Reactivity, together with our
Application Control Engine, provides a highly capable solution for
customers' application delivery needs in the datacentre.”
The acquisition is expected to be completed during Cisco's third
quarter ending 28 April, said Cisco.
The 60-strong Reactivity headcount and products will be
integrated into Cisco’s datacentre switching and security
division.
