Users of webMethods’ service oriented architecture
products are set to gain tools to help enforce the reuse of
services by developers, following the supplier’s acquisition of SOA
governance specialist Infavio.
Infravio’s registry, repository and SOA governance systems are
expected to be integrated with the webMethods Fabric product suite
by the fourth quarter of 2006.
Last month webMethods acquired Cerebra, which builds automated
tools to capture and define interrelationships between business
processes using semantic data.
The Cerebra technology will act as an umbrella repository that
stores information regarding all classes of SOA assets and their
dependencies. It also provides a search mechanism for developers to
find reusable assets.
AMR Research director Dennis Gaughan said the Infravio registry
would be a data source for the Cerebra technology as well as a tool
for policy enforcement. Combined with its existing Servicenet
management product, webMethods has assembled a strong set of
products across most phases of the SOA lifecycle, Gaughan said.
