Secure Computing has completed its acquisition of secure
messaging solutions company CipherTrust.
Secure Computing will add CipherTrust’s portfolio to its data
gateway security product and services offering.
In addition to protecting corporate network infrastructures, the
expanded company’s solutions will now offer companies protection
against malicious in-bound attacks such as spam, viruses or other
malware; as well as helping to prevent data leaks and ensuring
regulatory compliance.
Secure Computing now has more than 18,000 customers and 1,800
resellers in 106 countries.
The acquisition cost Secure Computing $185m (£102m) in cash and
10 million shares. Another $10m may be paid out if targets are
met.
Jay Chaudhry, former chief executive officer of CipherTrust, has
joined Secure Computing’s board of directors as vice chairman, and
is serving as the company’s chief strategy officer.
Other senior CipherTrust staff have also joined Secure
Computing.
