Financial services firms should adopt Web 2.0-based
applications to improve services to customers and promote
cross-enterprise collaboration, says analyst Gartner.
The analyst says the sector should adopt technologies such as
podcasts, blogs and RSS feeds to help keep up with the latest
communications technology.
Such technology could be used to deliver tailored content and
information to clients, says the analyst in a report.
Gartner said that relying on call centres and orthodox internet
marketing was no longer adequate for providing a full service to
customers.
The analyst said banks and other financial institutions should
adopt blogs, podcasts and RSS feeds in the next 12 to 24
months.
Some banks, such as UBS, have already adopted some of these
technologies.
