SAP unveils partnership for developing public sector systems

Thursday 18 May 2006 02:50

SAP has announced a new initiative to help develop business processing solutions for the public sector.

SAP’s NetWeaver integration and application platform is being used to build an “industry value network” (IVN) for the public sector.

The IVN will bring together system integrators, customers and independent software vendors (ISVs).

The IVN will initially focus on delivering solutions that improve tax and revenue management processes, although its remit will eventually be extended, said SAP.

SAP has a number of other IVNs supporting vertical development sectors, such as the retail industry.

Public sector IVN members currently include Accenture, BearingPoint, Deloitte, HP, and WindStar, among others.

It is planned to extend the IVN’s work from tax and revenue management to social services, government procurement, system management and administration.
