The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has
signed a 10-year deal with Active Web Solutions (AWS) to develop
the charity's innovative satellite-based safety system that sends
an automatic alert when a vessel is in trouble or there is a man
overboard.
AWS will host, manage and develop the software applications and
provide the terrestrial technical infrastructure and satellite
airtime for the project, which follows a 100-boat trial with
fishermen around the UK coast.
