Sun Microsystems has unveiled a new suite of
infrastructure software within the Sun Java Enterprise System to
help enterprises address the most challenging business integration
and Web 2.0 development projects.
The Sun Java Composite Application Platform Suite (Java Caps)
aims to deliver a range of business products to streamline IT
services across an organisation, leveraging existing legacy assets
without, says Sun, the need for extensive coding.
Following its August 2005 acquisition of SeeBeyond, Sun has
combined SeeBeyond's business integration software with the Sun
Java Enterprise System to create a service oriented architecture
(SOA) platform.
Sun says this gives customers the complete toolset and run-time
environment to transform and automate core business processes, such
as purchasing, quote to order, inventory re-stocking, pricing
approvals, travel authorisation and numerous other common business
tasks.
Sun Java Caps comprises four suites, including the new Sun Java
B2B Suite and Sun Java ESB Suite as well as the existing Sun Java
Application Platform Suite and Sun Java Web Infrastructure Suite.
Each suite is available individually for a subscription price with
discounts for those who buy all four suites.
