Microsoft is today launching a number of critical
security updates as part of its monthly patching
cycle.
At least one critical patch will be available for the Windows
operating system, and at least one critical fix for both the
Exchange e-mail platform and the Microsoft Office collaboration
suite.
No other further details are available yet on the Microsoft
website, but this is expected to change later today.
Last week, Microsoft rushed out a patch to fix a critical
graphics security problem in Windows, which first appeared just
after Christmas. It was originally going to distribute that patch
today, but in response to increasing threats from the vulnerability
the company released the fix early.
Microsoft is also planning to release an updated version of the
Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool today via Windows
Update, Microsoft Update, Windows Server Update Services and its
Download Centre.
The company also aims to release one non-security, high-priority
update via Windows Update and Software Update Services, and three
non-security, high-priority fixes via Microsoft Update and Windows
Server Update Services.
