Bookmaker Coral has deployed a high-bandwidth managed
network to its 1,268 branches throughout the UK as part of a £7.1m,
five-year contract with BT.
Coral has replaced a narrowband networks infrastructure that
Coral IT support and infrastructure manager Neil McCrossen said
could no longer meet business requirements.
"Time-critical, simultaneous data delivery to our 1,268 branches
is key to delivering the high levels of service our customers have
come to expect. To ensure our continued success and future growth,
we're looking for a flexible and scalable converged network, which
will allow us to communicate with our staff, suppliers and
customers."
The new infrastructure has already started delivering cost
savings against the legacy infrastructure, he said. “With a
consolidated network, we will now be able to overlay new business
services and multimedia applications such as Voice over IP, which
previously would not have been cost effective due to high
infrastructure costs."
