The Open Source Development Labs has cut a sixth of its
staff as part of a re-organisation, but senior programmer Linus
Torvalds is not among those culled.
The US-based organisation has cut nine out of 57 jobs, including
programmers, as part of its move to establish a European office and
expand into Korea and China, where Linux and other open source
activity is growing rapidly.
Sales, marketing and business development are other departments
that have been affected.
As well as continuing to internally develop the Linux operating
system for desktops, servers and other equipment such as network
kit, the OSDL works with IT suppliers and Linux customers to
promote open source options.
