Wipro Technologies has won a multimillion-pound contract
to implement a global distributed IT environment at pharmaceuticals
and chemicals giant Akzo Nobel.
Akzo Nobel, headquartered in the Netherlands, employs 64,500
people in more than 80 countries. Under the terms of the deal,
Wipro will help Akzo Nobel Chemicals implement provide
infrastructure management services for distributed Akzo data
centres across multiple locations in Europe and the US. Akzo will
also use Wipro’s global delivery platform and quality of service
procedures to maintain and enhance a wide range of applications,
including SAP business software.
Commenting on the deal, Gerard Helmink, Akzo Nobel Chemicals
chief information officer, says: “Wipro was chosen for its ability
to understand our idea of a shared IT environment and design a
solution which would provide us with the best returns," said Gerard
Helmink, Akzo Nobel Chemicals chief information officer.
