ISP Freecom.net has signed a deal with BT to enable it
to offer remote office working facilities to its 7,000 SME
customers.
The internet-based OfficeAnywhere managed service from BT will
be re-sold by Freecom.net to its customers who want remote access
to shared e-mail and applications via broadband lines, and remote
connectivity over mobile devices such as personal digital
assistants.
The Midlands-based ISP selected the OfficeAnywhere product
because the service provides a secure and scalable Microsoft
Exchange 2003 e-mail service for customers, either as a stand-alone
product or as a value-add to an existing package.
In addition, the OfficeAnywhere service includes the mobile
e-mail product Microsoft Mobile Information Server. OfficeAnywhere
is designed to remove the user’s burden of managing e-mail and
provides customers with a way of predicting billing costs per
user.
Trevor Price, Freecom.net managing director, said, “We’ve been
looking for ways to meet the changing needs of our customers - we
now have an innovative communications product to offer them, which,
being fully managed by BT, means we can focus on customer
service.”
