eBay has selected Pitney Bowes to provide a
browser-based postage solution which gives its customers access to
US Postal Service (USPS) shipping services directly from the eBay
and PayPal websites.
"We've integrated an online postage solution to make shipping
faster and easier for both eBay and PayPal users," said eBay
spokeswoman Jennifer Caukin.
"With this new tool, our users will be able to purchase postage
online and pay for it using their PayPal accounts, and they'll be
able to print their shipping label from their computer, all from
the eBay website."
Users previously had to go offsite or to a USPS office for such
services.
Once the label is purchased, both the buyer and the seller will
be able to track the delivery status of the package online from
either the eBay or PayPal site.
"Since shipping is such a crucial piece of the transactional
process on eBay, it will make trading on eBay faster and easier,"
she said.
"Our application represents the next generation of internet
postage technology. It is designed to deliver maximum customer
convenience and postal revenue security," said Neil Metviner,
president of the Pitney Bowes Direct unit.
