AMD latest chip ready to roll in notebooks

Monday 11 November 2002 10:36
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has released a mobile processor that is now available in notebooks.

The Mobile AMD Athlon XP 2200+ can be found in Fujitsu Siemens Computers' Amilo A-x600 series notebooks in Europe.

AMD's desktop processors have taken some time making their way into systems, with some processors announced in August just starting to make their way into systems now.

The new Mobile Athlon XP 2200+ will be priced at $186 (£117) in 1,000-unit quantities. AMD's performance leader among mobile processors, the Mobile Athlon XP 2000+, is priced at $345 (£217). The lower price for the latest chip should mean prices are set to decline across AMD's Mobile Athlon XP line.
