An independent consultation on the radio spectrum, including the
frequencies used for wireless communications, has invited responses
on pricing and auctions, economic gains, and regulatory
frameworks.
Martin Cave a professor at Brunel University, who leads the review,
explained, "The radio spectrum is a key UK asset and very important
to the success of many industries which can contribute to the
future prosperity of UK plc."
It is vital to ensure that the spectrum is available for defence,
broadcasting and the emergency services, he said.
The review was commissioned by the Department of Trade &
Industry and the Treasury last November. Cave is due to report to
ministers by the end of this year.
