Microsoft has introduced a full suite of applications for its Pocket PC personal digital assistants, which will make it easier for PC and laptop users to use the smaller device.

At the Mobile Insights 2000 conference in the US last week, Microsoft unveiled Pocket PC versions of e-mail package Outlook, word-processing application Word and the spreadsheet Excel.

All the applications run on the Microsoft Windows CE OS to make it easier for established laptop users to adopt smaller devices by way of using a similar graphical user interface.
