The Norwegian armed forces have signed a $70m (£42m) contract with Accenture to implement an SAP logistics solution over three-and-a-half years.

The agreement is designed to support core processes in logistics across Norway's army, navy, air force and home guard. Accenture will design the SAP solution to improve processes in procurement, supply chain management, heavy equipment maintenance and investment management. It will also implement a mobile solution to support maritime and mobile units.

The logistics project is the final major part of a programme to align processes and systems across all areas of Norwegian armed forces, incorporating large-scale procurement and operational restructuring.

Brigadier Jan Christian Ødegaard from the Norwegian armed forces said Accenture was chosen due to its experience in logistics solution design.

SAP specialist Pearl Consulting will act as a subcontractor to Accenture on this project.
