BT is still struggling to overcome a major network outage that is affecting broadband users across the UK.
Not all parts of the country are affected, but some users have been without internet access for up to two days. A service report on the BT broadband website posted at 2.30pm yesterday said the original outage had been corrected.
But at 5.30pm a similar outage report was posted. BT said, “We are currently investigating a problem with broadband access and you may be experiencing problems connecting to the service.
“Please bear with us as we endeavour to resolve this problem as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, we apologise for any inconvenience.”
The problem is ongoing, with BT’s phone helpline confirming at 5.00am today that the firm is still working on the problem. The message did not indicate when services would return to normal.
Areas where some users have not been connected for up to two days include Balfour and West Woodburn. The Manchester and Swinton areas were also previously affected. It is not clear whether these areas have a fully restored broadband network yet.
