Cognos has announced a new software package aimed at helping retail firms plan special promotions.
The Cognos Strategic Promotions Planning Blueprint is designed to help retail businesses model different scenarios for promotions, then analyse and evaluate their success in order to make the best use of marketing spending and maximise returns.
The new product is based on the Cognos 8 Planning and Cognos 8 BI platforms and follows retail industry best practice. It is designed to offer an integrated planning process between finance, marketing and merchandising departments, giving managers from all areas visibility into the process.
It allows analysis of earlier promotions so the results can be used to drive future campaigns, while rapid re-forecasting capabilities have been designed to help managers adjust campaign activities in the light of consumer response. performance and consumer responses to date
The software includes calendaring for promotional activities, an alerting feature and compliance monitoring capabilities.
The announcement follows the launch of Cognos’s Store Operations and Store Development Blueprints earlier this year.
