Leading players in the mobile industry are set to unveil a stronger security solution to protect data on mobile devices.

The Trusted Computing Group (TCG)’s Mobile Phone Work Group, whose members include Vodafone, Nokia, Freescale Semiconductor and other leading mobile companies, is to announce the new security solution at the CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment conference in Los Angeles on 13 September.

Mobile industry experts from standards groups including the Liberty Alliance, OASIS and TCG, along with companies including Aruba Networks, Freescale Semiconductor, Novell, Nokia, Symantec and Vodafone are set to discuss the new standard on this day of the conference.

The standard is expected to be incorporated into future mobile phones and devices and will make it easier for users to lock down sensitive data by storing it in a protected area of the device.

A keynote on the technology is to be presented by industry analyst Iain Gillott, of the iGR group.
