EMC has launched two new content management products that extend its Documentum platform, aimed at helping businesses meet regulatory requirements while sharing information.
Documentum Information Rights Management Services combines EMC content management software with information rights management technology acquired by EMC when it bought specialist firm Authentica in February.
The product is designed to offer more control over access to corporate information and its use. It allows administrators to restrict document access, set up watermarks, block printing or forwarding to unauthorised recipients and revoke the ability to open a file.
The software also maintains a complete audit trail of document activity and allows administrators to change user privileges at any time.
Documentum Records Manager 5.3 offers control over the lifecycle of corporate records, from their initial creation to access rights to their eventual destruction and disposal. It takes advantage of service oriented architectures to simplify integration with other business applications and systems.
The product is designed to allow the level of records management to be set flexibly according to business needs, from basic record retention to a management level compliant with government defence regulations.
