One company, Cycos, will demonstrate its CyPhone product, a computer telephony integration application that extends the functions of Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino.
The company has developed a number of enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management telephony applications.
CyPhone is a software phone that integrates deeply into these communications platforms, allowing users to dial phone numbers by clicking the mouse. They can also redirect calls and initiate consultation calls and conferences from the application.
When calls come in, the name of the caller automatically appears on the screen. Within Outlook and Notes, calls are initiated by clicking on contacts in the client and server address books or the call journal.
The call journal can provide a detailed overview of all incoming and outgoing calls, their duration, and the names and phone numbers of call participants.
CyPhone can reveal the status of the person being called - whether they are on the phone, having a break, or available. The application can also be used with the Session Initiation Protocol to videoconference with up to three participants.
