Saab updates manufacturing systems

Saab is updating its manufacturing system using IFS Applications.

Saab, the maker of military aircrafts and aircraft structure, is updating its manufacturing system using IFS Applications. It expects the move will reduce maintenance and improve product lifecycle.

This is the first stage of replacing and updating Saab’s existing system. Torbjörn Nibelius, responsible for planning and logistics at Saab Aerostructures and project manager for implementing the business software, said ‘Because we can save on maintenance costs, we expect to gain a rapid return on our investment in IFS Applications.”

Themove will allow Saab to acquire a better overview of product lifecycles.

The IFS Applications will provide support for major parts of Saab’s production process, including product data management, production planning, quality control, purchasing, customer orders, configuration and project management.

The system is expected to go ahead in the autumn of 2006.
