Apple releases Power Macs to take on TIger

Apple has launched a new range of G5 Power Macs in advance of this week’s release of its new Tiger operating system.

Apple has launched a new range of G5 Power Macs in advance of this week’s release of its new Tiger operating system.

The new Power Macs support both 64-bit and 32-bit processing to get the most out of graphics and other demanding applications.

The top-of-the-range 2.7GHz model costs £1,600 and has 512Mbytes of 400MHz DDR SDRAM (expandable to 8Gbytes).

The 2.3GHz model costs £1,400 and the 2GHz model comes in at £1,100. All three models will be equipped with the Tiger operating system, which is released this Friday.
