Bridgestone Europe has outsourced its SAP operation to India to cut costs and alleviate pressure on its IT department.
The tyre manufacturer has outsourced its 2,000-user SAP function to Satyam Computer Services of Hyderabad.
Under the agreement Satyam will provide application maintenance and support services to Bridgestone Europe for a three-year period.
Bridgestone Europe has six factories, one technical centre and a number of regional distribution centres, warehouses and sales companies around Europe, and has its headquarters in Brussels.
Bridgestone uses various SAP modules including warehouse management.
Joe O’Neill, Bridgestone Europe IT director, said, "We are constantly looking at ways of getting more out of our existing SAP investments. We believe our partnership with Satyam will help realise the fullest potential of our SAP systems and maintain our competitive edge."
Manish Mehta, Satyam director and senior vice-president, said, "We believe that Satyam’s in-depth business and technical know-how of the intricacies involved in running large SAP installations can be leveraged to bring great results for Bridgestone."
