The organisation operates a thorough quality assurance process before applying patches, OCS IT director Jenny Sener told Computer Weekly.
Patches are tested automatically using cut-down replicas of the main production servers run in an offline testbed area.
"We have a Microsoft SUS [Software Update Services] server that automatically takes the updates from Microsoft. These are then automatically applied to our testbed application servers," said Sener. "If we are satisfied that there are no issues with the testbed servers, the patches are then applied to the live production servers."
