Microsoft will pay operating system software developer Be more than $23m after legal fees to settle an antitrust lawsuit filed against it last year.

Microsoft admitted no wrongdoing in the mediated settlement, in which all other terms remained confidential.

Be, which developed a PC operating system, charged Microsoft with "exclusionary and anticompetitive acts designed to maintain its monopoly in the Intel-compatible PC operating system market".

Be sold its operating system and most of its assets to Palm in 2001.
