The Food Standards Agency has forked out £19m on a managed services deal that will see Capita supply IT services to five UK sites for five years.

Capita will supply desktop support, server and storage, as well as network infrastructure services.

The deal will support the Quango’s cost-cutting strategy while retaining service levels.

“The Food Standards Agency, like the rest of the public sector, is under pressure to both cut costs and deliver ever more efficient and effective services,” said Chris Hitchen, finance and IT director at the Food Standards Agency.
