HSBC suffers core services downtime

Customers of HSBCacross the world have had their cards rejected as the bank suffers a major technical problem.

The bank confirmed that it has experienced problems with its ATM and online banking systems. "We are working hard to fix the problem," said a spokesman.

Customers have been unable to use the ATM and online banking services since 2.40pm today.

The problem is technology related, but the bank was unable to say what the exact problem is.

In a statement on Twitter, HSBC said: "We are aware of some problems and are looking into them as a matter of priority.
